Description

I’ll be the first to admit that I can get over excited about watches sometimes. But I am positive whoever owns this watch next will echo my “WOW! This is a nice watch!”. We are proud to offer this exceptionally special and highly collectible watch, mint original condition Rolex 1680 Vintage “Red Submariner” Tiffany & Co. Edition with Unique Original Tiffany & Co. co-signed black Tritium “T<25 dial” Dial from 1970 – By far one of the rarest reference of all Submariners.\

Not only does this 100% original Red 1680 Submariner look fantastic with its fading to blue bezel insert, but it also features a rare original acrylic crystal without the “Cyclops” lens over the date display. This is an unusual rarity for this special vintage model.

The Red Submariner is one of those must have collector’s watches. When is a splash of red worth (much) more than its weight in gold? When it says SUBMARINER on the dial of a vintage Rolex Submariner reference 1680, that’s when. That splash of red on the dial makes the whole watch stand out. The first six years’ production of the steel 1680s have the red ‘Submariner’ while later production the word is in white. The Red Sub is much more collectible than the later all=white dials.

Original crisp Tiffany & Co. co-signed black Tritium “T<25 dial” Dial with uniform and pleasing patina on the hour markers and original hands. Date at 3 o’clock.

Original super mint condition case is stainless steel with dimensions of 40mm. Screw down “Trip Lock” crown is original and working smoothly. This case has its full metal – fat and even lugs with crisp “third edge” bevel. Original bezel has sharp serrations and the original insert has fat font and has slightly mellowed from its original black.

Original movement is the automatic winding Rolex Caliber self-winding automatic movement, adjusted to temperature and 5 positions. This movement is a C.O.S.C. Certified Chronometer. As I have said many times before, in my opinion the Rolex 15XX calibers are the best-ever serial production automatic calibers from any manufacture.

Expertly crafted by Rolex and great enough for Tiffany & Co. to place its name on it, the Submariner 1680 Tiffany & Co. watch represents a little piece of history when two big names in luxury goods came together as one. It is the Rolex model most representative of Rolex’s values. Serial number 281XXXX dates the watch to 1970.

This is an all around crisp, clean, MINT+ condition Red Submariner 1680 and is an excellent opportunity to own one of Rolex’s most treasured vintage sport watches.

The next owner of this watch is guaranteed one thing above all: a big smile that will last for a long time when they open the box and see this watch in the metal. This one has to be seen to be fully appreciated – even the high definition pictures below can’t capture the full magic of this watch. Vintage Submariners are truly beautiful watches.
