It includes a self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance spring, and Microstella regulating screws. The oscillator has the patented Rolex paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, with bidirectional self-winding via the perpetual rotor that was invented by Rolex in 1931, consisting of a half-moon-shaped oscillating weight that pivots freely in both directions on its axle, utilizing the energy of the natural wrist movement. There is no doubt that the Rolex Daytona is a good investment and If you’re interested in the luxury watch market as an investor, you’ll already be aware that Rolex models unequivocally make for sensible purchases. Most Rolex models are notable for a continuous growth in value, coupled with never-waning popularity. There’s something about these classic timepieces that just refuses to fall out of the public consciousness. For decades now, Rolex has captured the zeitgeist with each new release, while older models become more highly sought-after with each passing year. Despite obviously being a special Daytona, this watch retains many of the traits that made the Daytona a modern classic. The 40mm white gold oyster case is identical to the other early metal bezeled early to mid 2000’s Daytonas, which is to say it’s nearly perfect. The curves of the case are elegant and timeless, a result of Rolex mercifully sparing the Daytona from the “super case” trend that the brand is just now walking back. However, while the case design is great, it gets massively overshadowed by the dial and strap. The beauty of the Rolex Daytona is that you can be both an investor and collector at the same time: this means enjoying the history and tradition of the brand while collecting instruments that are stable enough to retain value and in-demand enough to increase in value over the years.
