Magnificent Dual Time Zone with Saros Annual Calendar Gorgeous Black Dial and Oyster Bracelet As one of the best designs in this legendary watchmaker’s line, the Rolex Sky Dweller in 18kt White Gold has a keen reputation to live up to. It does not fail to deliver. This stunning timepiece marries Rolex precision and quality with an incredibly clean and classic appearance. Aimed at frequent fliers and powered by the latest caliber 9001 movement, the Rolex Sky-Dweller boasts 14 patents. Local time is displayed with central hands, while home time is indicated by a red arrow pointing at an hour number on the aforementioned rotating disc. The rotating Ring Command bezel allows you to easily set local time, home time, and date with a twist in either direction. Of particular interest is the annual calendar that requires adjustment only once per year on March 1. Rolex named the innovative calendar mechanism Saros after the cycle of alignment patterns between the sun, earth, and moon that produces lunar and solar eclipses. The mechanism is based on a fixed planetary gear wheel with an orbiting satellite wheel that is fitted with four fingers, one for each 30-day month. The satellite wheel orbits the planetary wheel once per month, and at the end of a 30-day month, the finger triggers the calendar disc to jump twice within a few milliseconds to advance from the 30th to the 1st. Months are indicated with apertures positioned at each corresponding hour marker around the dial’s periphery. In January, for example, the window positioned at 1 o’clock displays the color black. ~ Courtesy of Forbes.com Rolex Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller Watch. 42mm 18K White gold case, bidirectional rotatable ring command bezel, Ivory satin finish dial, automatic Rolex caliber 9001 movement, second time-zone displayed via off-center rotating disc, Saros annual calendar with date at 3 o’clock and month indicated in discrete apertures at each of the 12 hour markers, 18K White gold Oyster bracelet with Oyster-clasp and Easy-link extension link.
