EXTREMELY RARE – DISCONTINUED MODEL The Patek Philippe reference 5070 is a gorgeous, masculine timepiece. Even in this relatively stealthy configuration of white gold and silver dial, this is a watch whose quality is unmistakable and will make a very positive impression on watch enthusiasts and the unwashed alike. The sculpted, massive 18k white gold case measures 42mm diameter by 13mm thick. The bezel is very broad and is set off by the large winding crown, rectangular chrono-pushers and long, thick lugs. Magnificent case! 18k deployant clasp mounted on the hand sewn black crocodile strap. Dial is very dark silver crossing into a light gray. Applied white gold numerals and hands, which Patek paints black for enhanced contrast to the silver dial. The outermost chapter on the dial is a simple seconds register for the chronograph seconds hand, while the inner chapter is a tachymetric scale. Let me note that the numerals and hands are just perfect in their finish. The skill involved in producing such a perfect outcome is worth appreciating. Perfection lies in the details. Movement is the manual winding PP Caliber 27, clearly visible through the sapphire display back, proudly displaying its Geneva Seal. 28 jewels in this beauty, which beats at a leisurely 18,000 VPH… which helps to extend the power reserve to approximately 56 hours.
