The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Rubens Barrichello II reference 26078IO.OO.D001VS.01 is a striking limited-edition chronograph that seamlessly fuses high horology with the adrenaline-fueled world of Formula 1. This model was created as a tribute to Brazilian F1 driver Rubens Barrichello, and it remains one of the most technically inspired Royal Oak Offshore pieces ever produced. Limited to 1,000 pieces, the Barrichello II combines motorsport aesthetics with Audemars Piguet’s mastery of avant-garde watchmaking.

The case is crafted from lightweight titanium with a robust 44 mm diameter, enhanced by the Royal Oak Offshore’s signature octagonal bezel made from black ceramic. The hexagonal screws securing the bezel mirror the engineering of a race car’s precision components. The chronograph pushers and crown are also ceramic, designed for durability and a technical aesthetic. The caseback features the engraved “RB” logo and inscription “Royal Oak Offshore Limited Edition Rubens Barrichello”, further highlighting its exclusivity. 

The dial showcases a Mega Tapisserie pattern in black with contrasting silver-toned counters, designed to resemble a racing car’s dashboard instrumentation. Subdials for the chronograph function are positioned at 6, 9, and 12 o’clock, with a prominent date window at 3 o’clock. The tachymeter scale around the flange reinforces the racing spirit of this edition, enabling speed measurement.

Red accents on the chronograph hands and blue highlights bring additional sporty vibrance, while the oversized Arabic numerals ensure excellent legibility.

At its heart, the Barrichello II is powered by the Audemars Piguet Caliber 2326/2840, an automatic chronograph movement with a 22K gold rotor, viewable only on models with display backs (this edition features a closed back with engraving). The movement beats at 28,800 vph and delivers a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. Renowned for reliability and precise chronograph functionality, this caliber underscores Audemars Piguet’s technical expertise. 

The watch is paired with a hand-stitched black leather strap with white stitching, secured by a tang buckle. The strap design is inspired by racing gloves and car interiors, complementing the motorsport-driven concept of the watch.
