Officine Panerai Luminor GMT Automatic Acciaio 44mm, Black Dial – Stainless Steel on Bracelet

THE LUMINOR GMT – 44 MM IS DISTINGUISHED BY A SECOND TIME ZONE, the date, excellent impermeability and a case with both a brushed and polished finish.
The Luminor GMT’s case is an updated version of one of the legendary models that Officine Panerai created for Navy commandos during the Second World War. At the time, there were no specialised underwater watches, and the Florentine manufacture was the first to create this watchmaking speciality with the Radiomir, and a short time later, with the Luminor models, which were easy to identify for their size and aesthetic qualities. The winding crown is made waterproof not by using screws, but by a bridge-like mechanism with a hinged section in the centre, which Officine Panerai patented more than half a century ago, and which still makes the watch immediately identifiable. The dial,in the traditional black, bears two large Arabic numerals and 24-hour linear markings, indicated by the slender central hand that makes a complete rotation not in 12 hours, but in 24 hours.

Night-time visibility is guaranteed, as in all Officine Panerai models, by the exceptional luminosity of the numbers, indicators and the wide, partially skeletonised hands, while the anti-reflective sapphire crystal contains a small magnifying glass to make the date easier to read. The GMT function on Officine Panerai’s Luminor lets the wearer simultaneously read the local time and that of another country, displayed on the dial with a separate hand. The automatic movement is equipped with a Panerai OP VIII calibre, and is C.O.S.C. certified, making this watch even more exclusive and unique, not only from a technical viewpoint, but also aesthetically, with the small seconds dial at 9 o’clock as on the original. Another aesthetic element is the bracelet which has brushed-metal links, while the links inside are glossy, extensively polished by hand.
