THE LUMINOR SUBMERSIBLE 1950 3 DAYS AUTOMATIC BRONZO PROFESSIONAL UNDERWATER WATCH BY OFFICINE PANERAI evokes the world of the sea, the ever-present element in the DNA of the Florentine brand. A development of the model created more than half a century ago by Officine Panerai for Egyptian Navy commandos, the Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo – 47 mm is made of bronze, a material that has always been linked to the sea. The bronze chosen by Officine Panerai for the case of the new Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo – 47 mm is CuSn8, an alloy highly resistant to the corrosive action of seawater and the elements. In addition to its great structural strength, this material maintains its original colouring despite taking on an aged look over time due to its patina. In fact, it is the patina which is the fundamental characteristic of this material – the result of the reaction of bronze to external agents (air, humidity, heat and friction). Rather than altering the properties of the material, it is a testament to its age, making each watch unique and personalised. The 47mm diameter brushed bronze case is water-resistant to 30 BAR (300 metres) and has a unidirectional, anti-clockwise bezel with a sexagesimal graduated scale divided into individual minutes for the first 15 minutes, then every 5 minutes. The characteristic crown-protecting bridge with a lever ensuring the crown itself is perfectly airtight, is also made of bronze. The sapphire crystal case-back, on the other hand, is fixed to the case-middle by means of a titanium ring, a metal chosen for its hypoallergenic properties. The dial, in a never-before-used dark green, recalls the graphic layout typical of the Luminor Submersible, with applied hour markers instead of the numerals 12 and 6. Protected by a sapphire crystal, the dial features ultra-luminescent skeletonised hands, the small seconds at 9 o’clock and the date symmetrically at 3 o’clock. The Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo has an automatic P.9000 calibre, designed and produced entirely by Panerai. The P.9000 calibre has a three-quarter plate structure, clearly visible through the transparent case-back, a 13¾ lignes diameter and two barrels, which provide a power reserve of 3 days.
