Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Platinum

In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona, Rolex created a unique version of its iconic racing model that for the first time features a precious 950 platinum case. Despite the use of new material and an interesting new combination of colors, the latest Daytona preserves the authentic design code and all key elements that made this watch one of the most renowned racing chronographs.

The new color of the monobloc Cerachrom ceramic bezel is chestnut brown which is unusually combined with the ice blue color of the dial. To make a nice contrast and to ensure high readability, the Swiss watchmaker marked three lacquer sub-dials with the chestnut brown. The 30-minute counter is at the 3 o’clock position, the small seconds sub-dial takes the 6 o’clock, while the 12-hour counter can be seen at the 9 o’clock position. Furthermore, there is a central chronograph hand that displays time with the 1/8 of a second accuracy. Along with the tachymeter scale for counting speed up to 400 miles or kilometers per hour, these chrono counters provide a full set of features for driving enthusiasts. Finally, Chromalight applied markers and hands guarantee superb legibility.

The brand’s signature Oyster case comes in beautifully polished platinum, with the diameter of 40 mm. The special, extremely tough construction consists of the Monobloc middle case, a screw-down case-back, two push-pieces and a screw-down crown with a Triplock water-proofness system. An Oyster bracelet is crafted from the same material and shows a nice contrast between its polished and brushed links. Equipped with Oysterlock folding clasp and an Easylink comfort extension link, it provides superb comfort and security, as well as stylish and striking look.Like the previous versions, the new Cosmograph Daytona watch is powered by an in-house Calibre 4130 self-winding mechanical chronograph movement. This COSC certified chronometer incorporates a Parachrom hairspring that ensures higher resistance to shocks and to temperature variations. Besides, it has a big influence on the great accuracy. The movement oscillates at the frequency of 28,800 beats per hour (4 Hertz) and provides an excellent power reserve of 72-hours (66 hours if the stopwatch is in use).
