Super Exclusive & Extremely Rare Piaget Polo “FortyFive” 45 mm. Titanium case and steel gadroons. Dial with luminescent hour markers. Sapphire crystal case back. Piaget 880P PVD ultra-thin automatic mechanical chronograph movement with small seconds, chronograph flyback function, date and dual time zone. If the memory of the past does indeed serve to write the future, the Piaget Polo FortyFive is certainly a vivid illustration of this maxim. Featuring a trendy 45 mm diameter case reminiscent of the 45-minute duration of a polo match, it adopts a resolutely sporty attitude with an exterior that is a first for Piaget: titanium, paired with an injected rubber and steel strap. This Piaget watch sets itself apart from the rest but is nonetheless treated to outstanding finishing. In terms of its movement, this model is equipped with the automatic 880P caliber movement complete with flyback, dual time-zone and large date features, displaying its functions on a black, red and silver-colored dial. The 880P movement is one of thinnest chronograph movements ever made, with a thickness of only 5.6 mm. The chronograph is one of the major watchmaking complications and, among the small number that are made; the 880P is distinguished by its flyback, a high-precision function enabling the chronograph to be reset without interrupting its running. With a single press, the small minutes hand and the central seconds hand fly back to zero and immediately start a new timing. The 880P movement is fitted with two barrels, a balance with screws, balance stop and oscillating weight decorated with the Piaget coat-of-arms, in black PVD. Another feature is the 24-hour second time zone indication at 9 o’clock. The chronograph is controlled by a column wheel coordinating all its phases, and by a vertical coupling clutch which ensures that it is extremely precise. The superimposed faces of the two discs that form the clutch are directly driven to avoid causing the hands to jump and waste energy from the power reserve. Finally, it runs at a higher frequency for increased precision. Circular Côtes de Genève, a circular-grained mainplate, beveled bridges, blued screws and an oscillating weight engraved with the Piaget coat-of-arms add the finishing touches to this movement and are reminders of the Swiss watchmaking brand’s high esthetic values.
